Empty Page Rant

Fri Aug 19, 2005, 2:53 PM
you know. this DA shit is funny.

half the time, im all for a full-out boycott of this shit until its straightened out. then half the time i wonder if its all a big scam, or marvel at the fact that its not actuallt a full boycott, since most artists, and i use that term lightly, are still quite active.

while all these issues with the "community" harbor a perfect reason for the artists here to band together in defense of this site that houses their work... it just hasnt happened that way. and while we all preach Support Jark, we're all really in the dark as to whats going on. what if it is a joke? then we're all being pulled along like morons. what if its all true? then this site is founded on a board of assholes. wheres the upside here? i dont know.

i DO know.... that when i look back at my own activity on this site, i dont really feel much. i continue to be the same artist i am here, when the site is down. i dont communicate regularly here with anyone, save m best friend. DA doesnt alter or change my views on my art or art in general. if i wasnt here, obviously, it wouldnt make a difference.

but at the same time, i dont want the site to fail. i know my prince likes it here and believes in the artists here (the real ones). so that in itself makes me sad to think that DA is such bullshit. for a site with so much potential to be a real community, its just fallen flat of any true expectations. its now ruled by politics that, while proving that artists are capable of comprehending more than paint and drawing programs, suffocate all of the real art being shared here.

so yea. im just posting this to cover up my old entry that had nothing to do with any of this, and was out of place, considering my page is now empty. so yea. there.

DA is BS. tell yer friends.

i think it USED TO BE a real community, but now its simply too big. but youre right, it feels like things are suffocated and just.. wrong.. somehow. and you know, while i did remove my gallery and faved yellow stuff or a while haha.. its always in the back of my mind that this is all bullshit. the conflict between jark and spyed MIGHT be real, but to this extent? i dont know. maybe. its a possibility. but i realized that this is the amount of mistrust i have in this site. i dont even fully believe that whats seems like its going on is THE TRUTH. i really wish there was another place we could go, and maybe there is.. DA is getting old and its getting political and it picks favorites.. im sure theres more. not even including this mess. -_-; looks like the good days are over. this is the largest online 'artist' community but it failed at just about anything else.

thanks for sharing yer thoughts on this, finally hahaha :glomp::heart: :rose: love ya XD :rose:

the glory days are indeed over, it seems. i know ive never been entirely too active here, but still, its a shame to see it fall apart so completely. its like in a place where there are so many minds that want to share and discuss and know whats going on, we're simultaneously surrounded by the OTHERS on DA with their anime and complete lack of desire to participate in anything intellectual, and the higher-ups.... the guys responsible for this newest BS. its like the last nail in the coffin of the o theoretically once great deviant art. who wants to be a part of something that really is too shady and covered up, when you sit back to think about it? im not going to get into all he politics, but at the same time i cant help but marvel at the fact that its taken this questionable confrontation between jark and spyed to get the actual artists of DA to speak out...

but then... where does it go from there, you know? so we speak out, that this was once a place that thrived on art, instead of politics and drama. that wont change DA back into a community. i realy dont think this site will ever recover from this shit. its like its all failed rather quickly, and no one can give a single, definitive reason as to why, though we can surely give a longass list. can there not simply be a place where true art is shared? where people think with their heads instead of their tokyo pop magazines and dicks? its tiresome, that this whole ordeal is left to speculation and mystery while it systematically breaks down the community.

its doodoo, i believe.

and thanks, for listening, and commenting, and actually caring what i think about it hahaha. always my prince, you are :glomp::heart::rose::heart:

love you.
:iconmoero:
it is indeed doodoo hahaha ^^;

but you know.. a place like that CAN exist, just not on a massive scale like this. a place like that would have to be very small. and very picky about who/what it allows to be a part of it. but then.. thats weird, isnt it? to pick and choose? although it DOES prevent the anime bullshit hehehe

that sentence is awesome btw "where people think with their heads instead of their tokyo pop magazines and dicks?" thats the shit hahahahaha gotta quote that
:icona-contre-jour:
i guess it just HAS to be that way tho..... its not a bad thing, i guess.... just think of it as like reverting back to the period of the renaissance when art was prized, and given its due sense of importance, and artist workshops and academies of art were exclusive, where only the true talent and minds could get into hahahahaha. seems okay to ME anyways haha. YES for small scale haha.

glad you like my sentence there hahahahaha. ^^;^^;^^; *muah* hahahahaha
not that we KNOW any people who think with those things.... *COUGH*9*COUGH*

keke. love ya!
:iconmoero:
nothings wrong with that if youre IN hahaha i dont know if i'd be in ^^; *nervous* but really, im all for workshops/academies like that hahaha actually, im in one ^^; hahaha but as for workshops and just groups of artists.. doesnt happen anymore.

yea lovely sentence XDDD 9 thinks with his guitar and occationally anime box sets though hahahaha :P
:icona-contre-jour:
youd be in. you have the talent, and the true artist appreciation for the world of art as a whole. no need to be nervous hahahaha. yea workshops and little groups of artists arent around anymore. consequently, neither are master artists. funny shit, huh?

hahahahahaha. oh dear. how could i forget hahahahaha ^^
:iconbluenine:
I think with my brain, thanks. And thanks for criticizing me (although I really can't tell how serious you were). If you were serious, though, a-contre-jour, then I suppose you said that because you don't exactly know me.

However, playing music (and guitar) is an integral part of my life, it's true. But that's my art.

And I do consider anime, if crafted well, to be a great thing. Although it is true that dA is a bit overrun with anime-esque drawings that don't seem worth posting. At the same time, I think there are some good ones here, but still...

As for the deviantART situation in general...I agree, this is ridiculous. One, I also don't care for the disrespect that has been shown for someone who was so integral in the creation of a site/community like this. Second, I too feel that the "glory days are gone". deviantART actually felt like a community a few years ago when it wasn't so huge and mostly consisted of a few people who were truly interested in sharing their artwork and providing comments and constructive critiques for others. I miss it, but I don't think it will ever be like that again at dA (as I doubt it will shrink).

So then, something like an "invite-only" online artwork community is brought up. I've thought of it before myself, but firstly starting and maintaining such a community, in reality, isn't easy. Second, it would have to be done carefully so as not to become some closed-minded elitist hole.

(Message was accidentally entered before I finished somehow. I remember now that it's wise to use Notepad instead of dA when composing a lengthier post. On with the message:)

It would be interesting to even see an attempt at such a community, though! Best of luck, should you try to bring one to be.

And also...a-contre-jour, I honestly think it DOES make a difference if you're not at dA. Your artwork has been viewed and enjoyed many people who would not even have a chance to see it otherwise. Additionally, you have left nearly 1,000 comments here. Surely you don't think this has passed without adding some insight and gratification to the community (note, I almost want to put that word in quotation marks, especially in the context of this entry)...? Also, although you say that the community hasn't affected the way you view your art or art in general, would you say that none of the appreciation that has been shown for what you shared has been worthwhile, at the very least?

And lastly...while deviantART is not like it used to be, and isn't a small, focused community as we wish there would be...I think it still has some worth. Despite having to wade through a lot of deviations, there is some great work to be found. It's also good for exposure, comments (although they greatly vary in constructiveness and worth to the artist), sharing work in general, and several other things (I'm not trying to give a full-on list/explanation here).

In any case, the current situation is a shame. Jark should be apologized to and reinstated, those with quality artwork who have wiped their pages should share their work again, and hopefully a good number of people will be able to appreciate and use the site for what it is, and what it is capable of.
